Cap Got Your Tongue?

Olympic fashionistas are having a field day as the 2012 London Summer Games approach. First, most of Great Britain is unhappy with the uniforms their athletes will be wearing. Then came the news that Team USA's Opening and Closing Ceremony uniforms aren’t even made in America. Now, we discover that US swimmers will don white caps featuring a small American flag along with the athlete’s name on one side and a tiny Speedo logo on the other. In years past, a larger American flag was prominently displayed on both sides. The change has even drawn the public ire of gold medalist Michael Phelps. Much ado about nothing? Tongue-in-cheek criticism? We'll know soon enough. The games start next week and the world will be watching.

Caped Crusader Captivates Camden Crowd

Interrupting the Baltimore Orioles’ opening day game in nothing but a cape, a cap, and Batman-themed underpants, Mark Harvey, 26, darted around Camden Yards, managing to briefly elude security before finally being caught, handcuffed and jailed for the night. Due to a “miscommunication” in the Maryland attorney general's office, however, ‘Batman’ managed to get away with the stunt scot-free. While law enforcement may have let the super hero off easy, the Orioles weren’t so lenient; the team has banned Harvey from Camden Yards “for life.”

Soccer Star Puts 'Leg' in Legend

Argentine soccer star Ever Banega, a 23-year old midfielder for Spanish La Liga side Valencia, was sidelined for the season after a freak injury, suffering a broken leg when he ran himself over with his own car after stopping for gas on the way home from a training session. Banega apparently forgot to apply the hand brake, and the car rolled back, crushing his left leg between the curb of the gas station and the tire. Surgery to repair a broken fibula and tibula was performed immediately and he'll be out of action for at least six months. Good thing he wasn't traveling on the team bus.

Post Pattern Dumps Coaching Career

School Superintendent Rick Colpitts accepted former Oxford Hills football coach Paul Withee's resignation yesterday after learning that a posted Facebook photo Withee intended to share with a personal friend was inadvertently posted to his general Facebook profile, where it could be seen by anyone. Colpitts confirmed to the Sun Journal of Lewiston, Maine and WMTW-TV that the coach's nude photo, brought to his attention by a concerned parent, was online for about 10 minutes before it was removed. Although the district allows teachers to be "friends" with students on Facebook, Withee said his Facebook page was not available to the public and none of his "friends" were students. Guess the old media guide isn't such a bad idea.
